Secondhand things you should never buy

We all love buying things on Craigslist and E-bay. It's really a lot cheaper to shop for used goods. But many second-hand purchases are actually terrible deals. Keep away from these used items that will end up costing you much money or even endanger your health.

Articles for babies

If there is any chance that you'll put your children at risk by buying used, just buy new. Used children's goods, especially cradles, can be a safety hazard because you can't be certain of a potential recall or if the cradle was installed correctly.

Underclothing

Do not, do not, do not buy used underclothing from others. They are worn too close to the body – someone else's body – to consider buying used.

Household items

Buying used beds, mattresses, sheets and pillowcases means that you may be sleeping with other people's mold, mites, bacteria, and bodily fluids. Moreover, many of these new items are not expensive. For your own health, you'd better shop for a new one.

Car DVD players

While buying second-hands cars is very popular, this doesn't apply to car DVD players. All the DVD players have lasers that will eventually wear out. The cost to repair or replace may cost more than the player is worth. And the continuous updating of car DVD technology always makes us want to get the latest one.

Cosmetics

A good thing to remember about used makeup is that it's breeding ground for bacteria and a number of contagious diseases. The great deal you found may come with pink eye and cold sores. Instead of buying used, consider making your own beauty products.

Air conditioner

Now many old air conditioners are cleaned and painted again and it's hard to know for sure how old a used air conditioner may be. Once you have bought a broken air conditioner used for many years, it's very difficult to repair and you have to spend much money on it.

Shoes and hats

They are likely not cleaned before they are resold or donated. If you buy a used hat or a pair of used shoes, you don't know if you're also getting skin infections, old sweat stains, hair product and other cringe-worthy remnants. And poor-fitting shoes are not only uncomfortable but can cause all sorts of health problems, as well. Now that's a deal you don't want.

Therefore, before you buying the used items, you'd better think carefully whether it's worthwhile or economic for you. Do not buy these things that will impair your health.
