A brief story explaining the reasons behind the fame of LEDs

Introduction:

Light-Emitting-Diodes are like small bulbs which range from size of 2mm to 8mm across. LEDs do not contain a filament to emit light, instead as the name suggests, they contain a diode which emits light when current flows in the reverse bias of LED. Light is emitted when electrons vibrate at a specific frequency. When electrons are vibrated within a range of even more specific frequency, specific wave length of electromagnetic radiation is emitted which results in specific colors of light. There are mainly four different LEDs out of which three LEDs emit monochromatic light of Red, Green and Blue colors. These three colors are primary colors and any other color can be created by mixing different intensities of any two primary colors. The fourth led emits white light which is created by mixing all three primary colors.

LED as a single unit emits a significant amount of light bit it is not enough to light up a room or an area therefore many LEDs are placed on a reflective panel and when lit together, collectively LEDs emit adequate amount of light.

Advantages:

Light sources which use LEDs as fundamental unit to emit light are now preferred over Incandescent light bulbs and florescent tube lights because the later two are filament based device. LED being filament-less device can withstand more electric shocks and physical shocks which increases their life span and the ability to use them in devices that undergo rough and tough conditions such as in car lights and traffic signals.

LED lights are more energy efficient as they consume much lesser power and emit the same intensity of light as incandescent and florescent lights therefore they are good for your pocket.

Florescent lights contain vapors of heavy metal mercury and poisonous phosphates which can prove to be harmful for the environment and disrupt the ecosystem of an area where as LEDs do not contain any such harmful material.

An LED can provide light for about 50,000 hours therefore an LED light source does not need constant replacement.

Disadvantages:

Initial cost of an LED light source is usually high and many people may not be able to afford it. LEDs also need a much lesser voltage of 12V to function therefore on may have to pay to change the power supplies of all the light sockets.

Uses:

Many LEDs can be placed on reflective panel to emit light beam. These panels can vary in shapes and sizes to fit your need. Different colors of LEDs can also be used to add a decorative touch to the ambiance you are trying to create. LED Lights are mostly monochromatic but one can also find the devices which use different colors which flash at different intervals of time.

Many LED based products are famous such as LED Modules and LED Tubes which are used as a light source, LED Bars and LED Flex are used as decorative devices.

LED suppliers also supply LEDs to factories which manufacture different electronics. LEDs are used in home appliances as signaling devices such as those little lights in your dishwasher, washing machine, toasters and etcetera.

LED Flex; Strong yet beautiful

Light-Emitting-Diodes (LEDs) are like small bulbs which are famous not because of ‘Diode' part of their action but because they can emit light. One small diode varies between the sizes of 3mm to 8mm across; with such small size, the light they emit is significant but not enough to perform daily tasks in. Therefore a number of diodes are attached on a reflective panel together and then lit; collectively they emit light which is adequate for everyday chores. LEDs are not filament based bulbs, unlike incandescent light bulbs and florescent tube lights. Owing to their filament-less nature, LEDs can bear more electrical shocks and physical shocks which add to their durability. LEDs are very energy efficient product. They consume much lesser amount of electric power to emit same e amount of light as incandescent bulbs and florescent tubes, therefore LED based light sources are good for your pocket since they knock off a significant amount of cash from the electricity bill.

As mentioned in the previous paragraph, LEDs are placed on reflective modules to emit a powerful light beam. These panels can be made into different shapes and sizes as required by the customer. Due to variable panels there are a few shapes that have become popular because of their convenience and their function such as LED Modules and LED Tubes.

LEDs are also incorporated into many decorative devices and their light alone is also used to create special effects in an area. There are products such as LED Bars and LED Flex that are famous for décor.

LED Flex is a thin tube which contains small LEDs at specific intervals in a line. The tube is translucent therefore LEDs cannot be seen and hence the light emitted from the tube id fairly equal from every angle. When lit, an LED Flex looks just like a Neon Light. Owing to this fact, LED Flex has started to replace Neon lights for many reasons. LED Flex is a very flexible tube therefore it can be bent and turned to make almost any shape without breaking, this is the reason why LED Flex is mainly being used for designing signs. LED Flex is also waterproof; hence it is used to decorate many water bodies such as fountains at parks and swimming pools for a pool party. LED Flex can bear a lot of physical pressure and can with stand a lot of temperature difference as well; therefore they are perfect for outdoor rough and tough environment. This is the reason LED flex are used as signaling device when partially embedded in the ground at areas like airports.

Light-Emitting-Diodes are preferred also because they can provide light for about 50,000 hours so LED devices do not need to be replaced very often unlike incandescent bulbs and florescent lamps. Florescent tube lights contain heavy metal such as mercury vapors and poisonous phosphates which are not good for the environment. LEDs do not contain any such dangerous material and hence it is eco-friendly. Due to their efficiency, LDEs are also preferred by places option for an energy conservation program.

LED; A world of colors and versatile options

Just before the year 2000, incandescent light bulbs and florescent tube lights lit majority of rooms and places. But if you go out and notice now, you will see that many of them have been replaced by LED based light sources. Light-Emitting-Diodes are small bulbs which range from 2mm to 8mm across. They are completely different from incandescent light bulbs and florescent tube lights in their functionality. Incandescent light bulbs and florescent tube lights are filament based light sources where as LEDs do not contain any filament, instead, energy is given off by vibrating electrons in the form of light when they are vibrated at a specific frequency by electric power in a specific compound junction. At many times, electrons in an LED are made to vibrate in even more specific range of frequency which results in light that has a specific wavelength. Due to this specific wavelength we see different colors. Owing to this phenomenon we mainly have LEDs which emit Red, Green or Blue light hence given the name of LED RGB.

These different LEDs can be placed on different panels which can vary either in shape or sizes. Even though many shapes are possible, there are some which have become very famous among people due to the convenience they offer. Such products are LED Module which are round in shape and are used either in cars or traffic signals; LED Florescent Tubes which are used in indoor and outdoor lighting system; LED Flex which are used as a replacement of neon lights; and LED Bars which are used purely for decorative purpose.

Owing to LED RGB and different sizes, one can find exactly the product as required. All aforementioned products can either be found emitting monochromatic light or they can emit different colors of light at different intervals of time. Different colors lit at the same time can mix and create other beautiful colors too. One can also find the lights which flash at specific intervals.

LED Light sources are preferred over incandescent lights and florescent lights because of many reasons. First reason being; all filament based light sources cannot bear a wider range of shock, may that be electrical or physical, therefore they cannot be used at different rough and tough areas like in cars or outdoors. LED based light sources consume lesser amount of electric power to give out the same amount of light compared to all filament based lights therefore they knock off a significant amount of cash from electricity bills into your pocket. LEDs can provide light for up to 50,000 hours, owing to this fact; one does not need to replace the LED lights as frequently as incandescent and florescent light bulbs. Therefore one does not need to waste cash in buying dozens of bulbs every month. Unlike florescent lights, LED lights do not contain traces of heavy metals such as mercury vapors and phosphates which can prove to be harmful to all living things in the environment therefore LEDs are considered to be Eco-friendly.

Decorative lights; convenient for people on a budget

We all love different designs. Now if you walk into the market containing decoration items, you will different products which are very different in shape, color and material; these are some common elements that people look at to choose a product. They like to match the item with the color scheme or a theme they are following. On the other hand people use natural elements to bring more energy into the ambiance. Many people prefer fire therefore they place many scented candles, others prefer water, therefore they put in small fountains in different corners of their home garden, there are also those who love nature hence you will notice their houses filled with exotic plants and then there are those who love light-play.

Light is classified to be one of the stimulating factors and human brain responds very fast to it. Different colors of light at different occasions can act as a catalyst to build up one's mood to either party or to make them sad. Due to different effects of light on human brain, one must carefully chose the color of light to put in the living room or the clubs. This is the reason many opt for the help from professional interior designers to help them suggest different colors of lights for the occasions.

In recent past there have been many decorative items that use light and these decorative items do not use incandescent light bulbs or florescent tube lights anymore. Instead, they use Light-Emitting-Diodes (LEDs). LEDs are small bulbs that range from 2mm to 8mm across. Owing to their small size, the light they produce is not very significant therefore many LEDs are used collectively to produce adequate amount of light. Many LEDs are attached to a panel in different styles and shapes to get different effects. One such popular product is called LED Bars.

LED Bar are thin strips of plastic panels which contain LEDs at different intervals to emit different intensities of light. The colors of these lights can also be variable since there are different LEDs available which emit lights of either Red, Green or Blue colors. Since these three colors are primary colors, mixing them can create other colors of light as well. LED Bars can be bought with one adhesive side as well so that one can stick them to different areas of the wall such as behind a photo frame. LED Bars are usually used to highlight an area since they don't emit light of very high intensity. One can also find LED Bars which emit lights of different colors or the ones that blink/flash at different time intervals. The LED Bars which are thicker in width can contain many designs made out of different colors of LEDs in different patterns. LED Bars are usually flexible so that they can be easily placed in a curved area or a corner.

LED Based light are advantageous because LEDs can emit light for about 50,00 hours so one does not need to change them frequently, plus LED lights do not take high amount of electricity therefore they prove to be good for the pocket.

Few popular products containing LEDs

Light-Emitting-Diodes are small bulbs but unlike incandescent light bulbs and florescent tube lights, they emit light without the help of a filament; instead, light is emitted when electrons vibrate at a specific frequency. Not having a filament ensures the LEDs can withstand relatively larger amount of electric shocks and physical shocks as well. LEDs range in size of 2mm to 8mm across. When lit alone, their light is significant but not practical owing to their small size, but if they are lit collectively, the light emitted is adequate to carry out everyday tasks. LEDs are more reliable than filament bulbs as they give a quick response.

LEDs are mainly used for their light. There are many different types of LEDs since they come in different sizes. Other than size, they also come in different colors. LEDs are available in Red, Green and Blue color. These three are primary colors and their lights can be mixed to create other colors as well. Many LEDs use these three colors altogether to get white light.

LEDs are lit together after they are attached to a panel of certain shape. There are various shapes of LED panels and hence their functions vary as well. There are many popular types of LED lights such as LED Modules, LED Florescent Tubes, LED Bars and LED Flex.

LED Modules are usually round in shape and can fit into the sockets of the bulbs. They contain a round panel which is held by aluminum metal because it is reflective and cheap. There can be about a hundred LEDs in an LED Module. Modules are used in car lights and traffic signals as well.

LED Florescent tubes are exactly what their name implies. They are a hybrid between Florescent Tubes and LED lights. LED Florescent Tubes are apparently just like florescent tubes but contain a narrow but long panel containing more than a hundred LEDs. They are preferred over florescent tubes because they give a quicker response and are environmentally safe where as florescent tube lights contain vapors of mercury and poisonous phosphates which can be harmful for the environment.

LED Bars are thin panels which contain very small LEDs. These panels are flexible and usually come with one adhesive side as well. LED Bars are used mainly for decorative purposes in the clubs and homes as they emit lesser amount of light, therefore it can easily be used to highlight a certain area or a corner.

Led Flex is thin a tube which contain LEDs, when lit, they look very much like Neon Lights. LED Flex are preferred because they are flexible and withstand a lot of pressure therefore they can be bent to make different signs and shapes. People use them to decorate their pool as well since they are waterproof. LED Flex is also embedded in the ground and work as signaling device at places like the airports.

LED light sources are very helpful for people on a budget as they don't need to be replaced very often due to their ability to stay lit for 50,000 hours. They also take in lesser amount of electric energy hence they are easier on the pocket.
