Infosys announces National winners of Aspirations2020

Infosys Ltd has announced the National winners of Aspirations2020, an online programming contest, organized by the company. The winning team (Nitish Chhangani, Mahak Rajvanshi, Nandkishore Agrawal) from Jodhpur Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jodhpur, Rajasthan received a certificate and a 64GB iPad for each team member, while the runners up (Timothy Tarun Andrew, Saurabh Meshram, Gajendra Singh KBN) from CMR Institute of Technology, Bangalore, Karnataka received a certificate and a 32GB iPad for each team member.

 

Aspirations2020 is a programming contest series organized by the Infosys Campus Connect Program, to enhance the problem solving skills for pre-final and final year engineering and MCA students. The objective of the contest is to encourage participants in the development of problem solving abilities through algorithmic thinking and logical reasoning, and then demonstrating the solution through programming and team work.The objective of the contest is to encourage participants in the development of problem solving abilities through algorithmic thinking and logical reasoning, and then demonstrating the solution through programming and team work.

 

Aspirations2020 received over 45611 student registrations online from 437 engineering colleges across 20 Indian states. The National Finals held in Bangalore on October 11, saw participation from 14 teams with each team comprising of a maximum of 3 members.

 

S. Gopalakrishnan, Executive Co-Chairman, Infosys Limited said, "It is crucial for Indian students to develop their analytical thinking and reasoning skills. Online contests such as Aspirations2020, give students a platform to develop and showcase their problem solving skills, thereby enhancing their competitiveness and employability. This initiative underlines Infosys' ongoing commitment to the training and development of the talent pool available to the industry."

Infosys has announced that, in accordance with the retirement policy (attainment of 65 years of age for Independent Directors appointed to the Board prior to October 15, 2010) for the Company's Board of Directors (Board), Prof. Marti G. Subrahmanyam, Lead Independent Director, would retire from the Board effective August 23, 2011. Prof. Marti G. Subrahmanyam joined the Infosys Board in April 1998. The Company has decided not to appoint a new Lead Independent Director, since the current Board Chair is Independent would retire from the Board effective August 23, 2011. Prof. Marti G. K. V. Kamath, Chairman of the Board, said, "Prof. Marti G. Subrahmanyam has seen Infosys grow from its early days. Infosys announces appointment of new members to the Board

Infosys Technologies Limited has announced induction of four new members to its Board.  In the course of a meeting, the Nominations Committee of the Company recommended induction of V. Balakrishnan as Chief Financial Officer;  B. G. Srinivas as Senior Vice-President and Head - Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Product Lifecycle and Engineering Solutions, and  Ashok Vemuri as Senior Vice-President & Head - Banking and Capital Markets and Strategic Global Sourcing.

The Board of Directors, in a meeting held after the Annual General Meeting (AGM), has accepted the recommendations of the Committee and appointed them as Additional Directors. The new directors will hold office up to the date of the next AGM. The Board also inducted Ann Fudge as an Additional Director of the Company.  The appointment is effective October 1, 2011. Fudge is a Non-Executive Director at Unilever, Novartis AG and at General Electric Co. She served on the Board of Honeywell International Inc. from 1993 to 2003 and served as the non-executive director of Marriott International Inc. from 2001 to 2003.Fudge is a Non-Executive Director at Unilever, Novartis AG and at General Electric Co. Infosys joins hands with Gen-i

Infosys and Gen-i have entered into a strategic partnership. The partnership will create a new choice for Australasian enterprises seeking local expertise and commitment, as well as global best practices and capabilities in IT services including IT consulting, business transformation and cloud-based offerings. Infosys has also acquired Gen-i's Software Solutions practice and offered positions to its more than 110 employees and contractors, who will continue to be based in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

The partnership will be undertaken by Infosys Australia and New Zealand, the Australasian arm of the global technology services and consulting company, Infosys Technologies, and Gen-i, the corporate ICT arm of Telecom, New Zealand.
