Lead acid battery problems in the operation of backup power

1. The life of lead acid battery can't meet the design demand.

As a matter of fact, lead acid battery would be serious bad after three years, and few can be used more than five years. That's because consumers don't use those lead acid batteries properly and never maintain it. Plus, they can't find the bad cells timely, so it causes the battery discard as useless.

2. Don't know clearly the operational aspect and performance of lead acid battery.

If there are behindhand cells in the battery pack, you can reduce the differences through a certain depth of discharging and cycle charging. But due to lack of good management and few understanding of internal performance parameters, such as internal resistance and the current surplus capacity, you can not take relative measures because you are unable to know it clearly.

3. As for single cell, the reliability of charging mechanism needs to be perfect.

Since the charging mechanism of domestic DC system is not very perfect, there is voltage drift when in use actually and the lead acid battery was in the floating charge condition in a long time. If the voltage is not the normal value, it will cause the battery over discharge or less charge, which has a big influence on the performance of lead acid batteries.

4. Single cell has an imbalance.

At present, lead acid batteries are consisted of lots of single cells. There are big differences among single cells, such as internal resistance, charging voltage etc, special in the floating charging condition. If there is a behindhand cell that is not full charged and you can't discover and deal with it, it will be worse. Again and again, the imbalance is serious, then cause the behindhand cell out of service. Finally it make the battery pack lose its capacity in advance.

5. Lack of good administering and monitoring.

If there are no administering and monitoring, the lead acid battery maintenance will be weaker, special its operational aspect and performance. A mass of maintenance and administration jobs are required to be done by people and the data needs the professional to clear up and analyze.

6. The end of lead acid battery's life can be known in advance and battery replacement is lack of scientific basis.

We always hope we can foreknown when it is the end of the battery, then we can replace it timely. But now there is no way to clearly know that. In fact, we always judge it is the end of its life when the discharging capacity is lower than the minimum requirement.
