How to make games for mobile platforms

Making video games for mobile platforms will require some hard work and dedication from the entire development team. However, it is often seen as an edeavour that is a lot more simple than releasing a video game for the PC or consoles such as the PlayStation 3 or Xbox. To develop a game that works well, you just need to pay attention to some of the key points and make sure that you follow them properly. Here are some key elements that you will find in the development process:

  • ·Determine what will be the theme of your game.

You need to be sure about the main idea on which you will build the game. For example: what kind of theme you want? Do you want an action game or racing game or something else? This is the first step to take in the Game Development process and the most important one as it will basically determine the identity of the game. Plan the story line if there is one, think of the characters, and any other items used in the game.

  • ·Get the right tools for successful game design and programming.

Here, the foremost thing you need to have is the Integrated development Environment (IDE), such as Java. It is a very popular tool when it comes to Video Game Testing. Along with the IDE, you are also going to need a SDK (Software Development Kit). Android SDK is what is preferred these days, as most of the mobile phone platform is Android based. This SDK is an open source module and you can easily learn it's tool and features.

  • ·Debug and test your project

game QA is a very important element of the entire process of game development. This is done both during and after the coding and programming of your game. Make sure that you debug all your code to prevent any bugs from slipping in. Also, test all elements and modules of the game to be sure that they work together well and that the game is playable. By doing so you will ensure that you are releasing a quality game.

  • ·Market and sell your game

This is the last part of the entire process and is done once you have finished developing your game from a to z. Selling video games for mobile phones is quite easy, as there are application stores for various platforms, such as the iPhone. Mobile phone carriers also feature certain games on their mobile portals. Usually in that case, this would function similarly to an affiliate deal, where you get to keep most of the revenue from the sale, while the mobile phone company gets a small commission for selling the game to the end user and billing them for it.
